artist statement
In Jewish tradition it is said that when you take an image of someone, you take a part of his or her soul. When looking at Alison Bradley’s newest body of photographic images, the Ladder Series, a reference to Jacob’s Ladder, one has the sense that these objects (the shoes of a child we love, a glass from which we drink wine, a suitcase we traveled with, etc.) speak to the deepest part of us. Contained within are fragments of recollection, objects vaguely recognized yet somehow intensely familiar. The photographs explore the mystery of what we call soul, or time, where past, present and future become simultaneously visible and yet indistinguishable.

technical information
All images are unique, gelatin silver prints toned in an espresso - based process created by the artist for this series. The edition of each photograph is 3, with an Artist Proof, which is framed and used for exhibitions.

The photographs are sold as framed pieces, according to the framing used in the exhibited work. The collector is encouraged to view the edition and to choose an individual photograph, as the pieces are unique and vary slightly in tone and appearance.
